As of July 20, sustained trap capture has been reported in many counties across the state.
In the Hudson Valley and Long Island, populations are increasing in a number of locations, with captures up to 30-50 per trap.
In Western NY several locations are beginning to report higher numbers and trap captures have dramatically increased at a site in Niagara county.
At locations in Northern NY, first or sustained capture has been reported at most locations, but trap captures are still very low (<5) at most, and zero at a few locations.
Traps continue to be checked weekly throughout the state for SWD.
The 2026 Update on Monitoring and Management of SWD can be found here.
